In the first installment of the An Introduction to Civilizations Throughout Time series, young learners are transported back to Ancient Greece. Marteya Arkova's soft watercolor illustrations work together with Carole Roman's informative text to provide learners a glimpse into daily life in Ancient Greece. Told from the perspective of a child, learners are introduced to geography, common family names, popular foods, clothing, education, and a brief summary of a god or goddess related to the topic discussed on the page. Roman provides a pronunciation guide for new or unfamiliar words and also includes a glossary of terms at the end of the book. The book also includes as glossary of gods and goddesses and their importance in everyday life in Ancient Greece. All in all, the simple text and beautiful illustrations provide an introduction to Ancient Greek culture and daily life.
